Employment Opportunities at the Division

The University of Illinois at Chicago - Division of Specialized Care for Children accepts applications for Civil Service position openings in our Regional Offices located throughout the state and our Central Administrative Office in Springfield, Illinois.The Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) is under the jurisdiction of the State Universities Civil Service System. Civil Service employees are those in classified positions, and are subject to the Statutes and Rules of the State Universities Civil Service System.

Applicants for Civil Service employment at the Division of Specialized Care for Children must qualify for and pass Civil Service examinations.

There is a specific examination for each job classification. Names of qualified applicants who pass examinations are placed on employment registers in order of examination score. When there is a position vacancy, applicants are referred to hiring departments for interview according to their placement on employment registers.

Professional positions in the Nursing, Social Work, and Speech and Hearing fields, as well as paraprofessional positions are available throughout the Division's Regional Offices. Regional Offices are located in Champaign, Chicago, Darien, Hodgkins, Marion, O'Fallon, Olney, Peoria, Rockford, Rock Island and Springfield, Illinois.

The Central Administrative Office in Springfield, Illinois also accepts applications for Secretarial/Clerical, Information Systems, Business/Accounting, and Medical Insurance positions. Contact the Office of Human Resources for information about current vacancies.

Employment at the Division of Specialized Care Children

To complete an application for DSCC positions, you will need to complete a Civil Service application via the University of Illinois Online Employment Center and select DSCC as the desired place of employment. In addition, copies of transcripts, diplomas, licensures and DD Form 214 (if applicable) need to be faxed to the DSCC Human Resources office at the fax number provided below.

The University of Illinois Employment Center also provides additional listings of employment opportunities at the Urbana-Champaign, Springfield, and Chicago campuses. In the Employment Center you may post or remove an application or resume, search academic professional job postings, and obtain information about civil service positions on the three campuses.
